Partnership with BridgePathways Enhances International Student Experience

Concordia University, St. Paul has partnered with BridgePathways to open a Bridge Intensive English Language (IEP) Center on campus in Fall 2017. The center will provide an intensive English language education program for international students whose desire is to attend college. Both offices will occupy new spaces in the Marshall Building, with the Office of International Student Services relocating to this location in July 2016.

“Having a BridgePathways Center on campus to offer an Intensive English Language Program will be an excellent addition for comprehensive campus internationalization,” Tom Allen, Executive Director of International Education at Concordia said. “By being able to welcome a BridgePathways Center to campus CSP will experience positive ripples in expanding our ever increasing international student diversity.”

Globally recognized for providing individualized, high quality, English language education, the BridgePathways Center will create the opportunity for Concordia to foster the key ingredients for academic success early on in an international student’s academic journey.

“Recent literature in the Journal of International Perspectives in Psychology has found there to be significant benefits on acculturation outcomes when international students experience a high degree of self efficacy in their English language ability.” Allen said.

During the 2015-16 school year Concordia enrolled 140 international students from 14 different countries.
