Volleyball Team Dines With Governor Dayton

The six-time NCAA Champion Concordia University, St. Paul volleyball team and coaches were invited to Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton’s residence on Summit Avenue for breakfast March 19.

Gov. Dayton spent time visiting with the team prior to a formal tour of the historic residence, in its 101st year. During breakfast, the Governor was able to spend time in small groups visiting with the team.

The team presented Governor Dayton with the official Championship T-Shirt and other athletic apparel.

Concordia volleyball tied an NCAA (all divisions) record in the sport of women’s volleyball by winning a sixth-straight national championship during the fall of 2012, tying Washington-St. Louis (1991-96) at the Division III level. The Golden Bears hold the record for most total Division II volleyball titles, and they are the only Division II program to win three titles in a row.
