Associate Professor of Kinesiology and Health Sciences


Dr. Joseph Ostrem has been teaching in the Kinesiology and Health Sciences Department at Concordia since 2016. As the department’s exercise physiologist, he has served in both undergraduate and graduate students in a teaching and research capacity. He teaches courses addressing many aspects of exercise: assessment, physiology, prescription, and clinical application as well as research in a traditional and online format. Within his courses, Ostrem works with students to analyze the physiological measures of health and performance, and to evaluate the importance of research within the health field.
Since joining the faculty in 2016, Ostrem has continued to develop the Human Performance Laboratory by adding anaerobic power and body composition assessment tools for students to utilize in their coursework and research endeavors. He has partnered with the Concordia University’s Athletic Department for research into sport performance.
