Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) Principal Licensure

Principal Licensure


This program is designed for educators with at least three years of teaching experience who currently hold a Master’s degree and a valid Minnesota teaching license and who wish to become licensed as a principal or superintendent in the state of Minnesota while earning an Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) degree.

The completion of an Educational Specialist (Ed. S.) degree meets the requirements to become a licensed public school administrator in the state of Minnesota. The program is designed to advance each student’s leadership skills and talents to be successful as leaders in a variety of educational roles. State school administrative licenser is available to Early Childhood through Grade 12 Principals, Special Education Directors, and Superintendents.

The coursework blends leadership skill development with the demonstration of critical leadership competencies required to be a successful leader. The program concludes with an extended applied internship experience and the completion of a capstone project.
