Students in MAN465 Project and Team Management at Concordia University, St. Paul took part in a hands-on service-learning experience that challenged them to apply project management concepts to real-world community needs across the Twin Cities. Working in teams of four, students were responsible for planning, organizing, and completing a service project that materially benefited a charitable organization. The assignment gave students practical experience in leadership, teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and project execution while making a positive impact beyond campus.

After completing their projects, each team also delivered a final class presentation highlighting their planning process, project outcomes, challenges, and lessons learned.

This semester’s projects included:

  • Jordyn Clark Foundation – Shared educational information and resources about mental health awareness.
  • Dorothy Day Center – Collected toiletries and portable food items for individuals in need.
  • Fishing for Smiles – Supported opportunities to take someone fishing for the first time.
  • The Philomena House – Collected donations for expectant mothers, young mothers, and families in their residential program.
  • Professional Closet – Gathered professional clothing for CSP students to use for interviews and presentations.
  • The Sanneh Foundation – Interviewed high school students for summer positions working with children.

Through these projects, students gained valuable experience managing timelines, coordinating with Twin Cities community partners, promoting initiatives, and working collaboratively toward shared goals. The service-learning component of MAN465 reflects CSP’s commitment to preparing students for thoughtful leadership and meaningful service in their careers and communities.
