Who is an International Student 

Concordia University considers you an international student if:

  • You will need an F-1 student visa to study in the U.S.
  • You will be studying in the U.S. in any other eligible nonimmigrant status.

GRADUATE INTERNATIONAL ADMISSIONS

Graduate studies candidates are those who have received a bachelor’s degree and are pursuing a graduate degree. The following requirements should be submitted for acceptance consideration:

Students working with an agent should contact them directly for updates and questions about your materials.

Step 1: Complete your CSP Graduate Application

    • Create an account in our application portal, then complete and submit your online application. 
    • Use the portal login page to reference your application status and items that you still need to submit throughout the application process.

    *Please use the same email that you create your account with to also correspond with the International Admissions office for faster processing.

Step 2: Upload the Following Documents to Your CSP Application Portal

  • Photocopy of your valid passport page showing photo, name, and birth date. If you are transferring from a US institution, please also submit a photocopy of your visa page.

    • Upload an original/official bank letter or statement provided on official bank letterhead that meets CSP’s cost estimate in U.S. dollars. 
      • Bank statement may be from a student or family member.
      • We ask that statements are dated and less than 3 months old from the time of your application submission and in English
  • Submit a personal statement with the following requirements:

    • The statement falls between 400 and 1000 words.
    • Includes a beginning (introduction), middle (body), and end (summary/conclusion).
    • This statement is original (no plagiarism) and reflective of the applicant’s experiences and traits. No outside work (citations and references) is allowed.
    • The submission is professional with no spelling, grammar, or sentence structure errors.
    • The statement should address the following:
    1. Describe your employment history and why you are choosing to pursue a graduate degree at this time in your career.
    2. Describe a personal and/or professional goal that you hope you will fulfill through earning your graduate degree.
    3. Describe a past or present personal/professional experience that you believe positively influenced your potential to succeed in a graduate program.

Step 3: Email the Following Documents to [email protected] or if Living in India to [email protected]

    • Complete an approved English proficiency test and have your test scores sent or released to Concordia University, St. Paul. You may also provide a copy via email for TOEFL, IELTS, PTE and iTEP (Duolingo tests must be released to Concordia University, St. Paul for us to electronically retrieve them) 
    • Test scores should be taken within the last 2 years prior to the student’s start date (test scores will not be admissible if they will be more than two years old at the time of enrollment). 

Step 4: Request the Following Documents be Mailed or Emailed via a Secure Electronic Service.

    • Concordia University does not evaluate foreign transcripts. Students who have not completed a bachelor’s degree or higher in the U.S. will need to have their transcripts evaluated by an approved member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services.  
    • Evaluation should include a  U.S. GPA and Conferred Degree equivalency. Evaluations received should come either in a sealed envelope from the evaluating agency or via secured electronic email from the evaluating agency.

    For degrees earned in the United States: 

    • Graduate Admissions must receive your official, final transcript(s) sent directly from your institution in a sealed envelope or through an electronic delivery service. Your official, final transcript(s) must show that the degree has been conferred. Transcripts should be sent to Concordia University:

    Official transcripts from India should include the following documents in addition to the Memorandum of Marks:

    • Provisional Certificate
    • Consolidated Marks

    Official evaluation of foreign credits may be received through secure electronic email or mailed in a sealed envelope from the evaluation company.

GRADUATE TRANSFER STUDENTS 

Students already studying in the United States can transfer their SEVIS record to Concordia University, St. Paul. Please share the following SEVIS information to the DSO at the last school you attended in the U.S. and who will be transferring your record to us. 

  • Name of Campus in SEVIS: Concordia University – St. Paul
  • Campus Code: SPM214F00284000

DOCTORAL INTERNATIONAL ADMISSIONS

  • Concordia University offers a competitive Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) program on our campus in St. Paul. This year-around program gives students hands-on learning t regarding the elements and practice of Physical Therapy.

    In addition to the admission  requirements of the DPT program, international students applying to this program will also be required to submit the following items (see requirements under Graduate International Admissions above for details about these items and how to submit them):

      • Completed application for the DPT program
      • A copy of your passport
      • Bank statement
      • Official Transcript Evaluation from a NACES member organization
      • Proof of English Proficiency
        • The Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy requires minimum passing scores on the Internet-based TOEFL for foreign-trained physical therapists seeking US state licensure and have broken it down by individual test scores:
          • Writing: 24
          • Speaking: 26
          • Reading: 21
          • Listening: 18
    • TOTAL: 89

GRADUATE ADMISSIONS DEADLINES

    • December 1: Priority Deadline
    • July 1: Final Deadline*
    • November 1: Final Deadline*
    • March 1: Final Deadline*

Applicants will not be permitted to start late in the term. If you cannot get a VISA appointment in time to arrive to the University and start classes on the first day you will need to defer your application to the next term. Contact International Admissions for more information. 

*Applicants who are transferring an F-1 VISA from another U.S. academic institution may be considered for admission up until two weeks prior to our admissions start date.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Completed applications are reviewed weekly and students can expect a decision within 3-5 days of all completed documents submitted. Note, during high volume times or when CSP has been closed, there may be additional delay. Find the latest status on your application by logging into the application portal.

  • Congratulations on your acceptance! Now, onto your next steps located on the Accepted International Student webpage. Please be sure to review all steps on this page. Items include signing up for orientation, submitting your Registration Authorization form, and submitting your Immunization form. 

  • Once accepted, you can set up and pay for shipping your I-20 through Eshipglobal. Concordia does not offer a “soft copy” of your I-20, we ONLY OFFER HARD COPY I-20s. 

    Once complete, your request will be sent to the International Student Services office and they will process your I-20 within 1-2 business days. You should receive your I-20 in hand within 3-10 days depending on the address and courier that you pick when you order. 

    Your SEVIS ID will be available after the I-20 is ordered and processed. If you are looking for your SEVIS ID prior to receiving your hard copy, please contact your International Agent (India – [email protected]) to receive your ID and to start booking your VISA appointment. If you are not working with an agent please contact International Student Services at CSP to receive your SEVIS ID.

  • CSP strives to keep our graduate tuition competitive and in doing so, we have limited university scholarships available to our international students. If you do think you may qualify for one of our graduate scholarships, please contact International Admissions for more information.
