A group of Concordia University, St. Paul accounting students recently stepped out of the classroom and into the professional world with a visit to Abdo’s Edina office. What might seem like a simple two hour visit quickly turned into a meaningful, hands on experience that brought their future careers into focus.
From the moment they arrived, students were immersed in the day to day environment of a working CPA firm. They toured the office, met professionals across departments, and gained insight into the wide range of clients and industries the firm serves. Conversations flowed easily over a shared lunch, creating space for students to ask questions, make connections, and begin to picture themselves in similar roles.

One of the highlights of the visit was a panel featuring three CSP alumni who have already begun building their careers at Abdo. Abdirizak Omar ‘25, Jaden Burandt ‘25, and Musab Makhtal ‘22 shared their experiences transitioning from college to the workplace. Their stories offered both practical advice and reassurance, especially as Jaden recently stepped into a full time role with the firm.
In just a short time, the accounting students walked away with more than knowledge. They left with new connections, greater confidence, and a clearer vision of what lies ahead.
