Dr. Debra Beilke

English and Modern Languages Department Chairperson
Professor of English

Debra Beilke loves exploring the world of humans and the humans of the world through literature.  She received her Ph.D. in English from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in a past century and has been teaching full-time at Concordia University, St. Paul since then. Her specialty is in American literature, and she finds the Puritans can actually be quite entertaining.  She also teaches a variety of general education courses in writing and literature, and upper-level world literature courses.  Dr. Beilke is especially interested in literature from Africa and the Middle East.  She would take it as a compliment if you called her a “crazy cat lady” or a Wisconsin “cheese head.”
