Concordia University, St. Paul, is celebrating a tremendous honor for our president, Rev. Dr. Brian Friedrich. Friedrich was recently elected to the Board of Directors for the National Association of Independent Colleges & Universities (NAICU).

NAICU is a vital organization dedicated to advancing the interests of private, nonprofit higher education institutions nationwide. The organization primarily focuses on issues associated with student aid, tax policy, and government regulations.

The NAICU Board of Directors is comprised of 44 private university presidents from around the country. Concordia University, St. Paul, is the only Minnesota institution represented on the current board. NAICU and its Board of Directors provide a unified voice for private, independent colleges and universities among Washington, D.C. lawmakers. The organization also provides important support at the state level regarding policies that impact private universities and their students.

“This opportunity to help shape important state and national policies via NAICU Board membership comes at a pivotal time for higher education in our country,” noted Friedrich. “I look forward to sharing the leadership and innovations of CSP with colleagues from around the country to help ensure a vital future for private higher education in America. This is a true blessing, and I am honored to represent our university through this important association.”

President Friedrich will serve a three-year term on the NAICU Board as one of 15 members of the “Class of 2028.” He represents Region VII (Midwest) alongside President Rachelle Keck of Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa, and President Amy Bragg Carey of Friends University in Wichita, Kansas.
