Assistant Professor of Mathematics

Zach Henderson joined the mathematics faculty at Concordia in 2025. He is passionate about connecting mathematical theory to real-world applications and enjoys fostering meaningful discussions with students around these ideas. As an instructor, he strives to build students’ mathematical confidence and appreciation of mathematics by connecting abstract concepts to their everyday experiences.
At Concordia, Zach teaches courses such as Quantitative Reasoning for Health Professionals and Abstract Algebra. His academic interests span a broad range of areas, including graph and network theory, combinatorics, abstract algebra, and the use of mathematics in public health contexts. His mathematics research has included developing infectious disease models with a combination of differential equations and network theory, performing brain network analyses, and constructing graph labelings. Prior to joining Concordia, he served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the mathematics departments at Central Michigan University and the University of Minnesota Duluth, experiences that helped shape his student-centered approach to teaching.
