Welcome to the Department of Communication Studies

The Communication Studies program at Concordia University can be summarized by its two goals: to provide a general education in the field of communication and to provide preparation for a specific career choice. The professors' goal is to train you to become a competent communicator and enable you to work with others in a variety of career contexts.

The design of the Communication Studies major is based on research data, indicating that employers are interested in potential employees who have oral communication, listening, writing, interpersonal communication, interviewing and small group communication skills, as well as some career training and orientation. Because of this, Concordia University has developed seven career tracks in the communication program.

  • Public Relations
  • Communication Technology
  • Intercultural Communication
  • Management Communication
  • Professional Communication
  • Sports Information
  • Family Communication
