STEP 2: COMPLETE DMS PROGRAM ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS, INCLUDING PREREQUISITE COURSES

Students must complete a number of prerequisite courses and the TEAS exam before applying to CSP’s DMS program.

Program Requirements

  • Prerequisite courses can be taken at Concordia University St. Paul.

If students have previous college credit, once admitted to the university, a credit evaluation will be done on any transfer credits to see if those fulfill prerequisite requirements. The math prerequisite course must have been completed within the past 7 years with a grade of ‘B-’ or higher. Science prerequisite courses must have been completed within the past 7 years with a grade of ‘C’ or higher. There is no time limit on transferring in an English course as long as it has been completed with a grade of ‘C’ or higher.

Listed below are the prerequisite courses required. Your academic advisor will create a plan that fits your needs. The average time to complete these courses is 1-2 semesters if students are taking all prerequisites at CSP.

    • BIO 117 Human Anatomy & Physiology for Sonography
    • DMS 100 Introduction to Ultrasound (must be completed at Concordia University, St. Paul with a grade of B- or higher)
    • MAT 165 Quantitative Reasoning for Health Care Professionals
    • ENG 121 College Writing
    • PHS 112 Introductory Physics for Biological and Health Sciences I

Each prerequisite course may be repeated in its entirety one time in order to meet the grade and GPA requirements.

    • Assessment Technologies Institute (ATI) Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) must be submitted with a score of 62% or higher. CSP ranks applicant by their overall TEAS percentile.
    • Complete the TEAS exam within one year prior to your application to the DMS Program (only two attempts allowed per year).

Complete the TEAS Exam Through CSP

The TEAS Exam is offered through CSP virtually. This is open to anyone to register, including CSP pre-DMS and non-CSP students. Students can also complete the TEAS exam outside of CSP.

    • Register here: https://atitesting.com/teas/register#prep
    • Registration will close 24 hours prior to exam.
    • Cost of exam is $100. Applicant will pay upon registration.
    • Applicants will receive an email prior to the exam (12 hours) with a link to log onto for the dry run. Check spam folder if email is not received.
  • Students who have been enrolled in a Sonography program and completed sonography courses at another college or university must submit recommendation letters from two sonography faculty at their previous institution. Most sonography coursework taken at previous institutions will not transfer into CSP’s sonography program, but will be evaluated by the DMS director if the student is deemed to have left their previous program in good standing.
