Robert Krueger, Ph.D.

Chair of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science

Dr. Robert Krueger has been a member of the Concordia University, St. Paul faculty since 2001. He became Chair of the Department of Mathematics in 2005 and has helped guide its growth and transformation over the past two decades. In 2024, the department expanded to become the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, serving students in Mathematics, Computer Software Science, and Actuarial Science.

As a professor, Dr. Krueger is passionate about helping students discover the beauty, relevance, and power of mathematics. His teaching spans mathematics, statistics, and data analytics, and he continually seeks innovative ways to enhance student learning through technology, video-based instruction, and hands-on experiences such as 3D printing. He is particularly interested in helping students connect classroom concepts to real-world applications and in exploring how emerging technologies can enrich learning. A strong advocate for responsible innovation, he encourages students to use generative artificial intelligence thoughtfully, ethically, and effectively as a tool for learning, creativity, and professional development.

Dr. Krueger is a strong advocate for student leadership and engagement. He serves as faculty advisor for Concordia’s Tri-Pi Mathematics Club, where students organize campus-wide events, develop leadership skills, and build community through their shared interest in mathematics. He enjoys creating opportunities for students to engage with mathematics beyond the classroom through leadership experiences, STEM outreach initiatives, and events that connect prospective students with Concordia’s academic community. He also mentors students on projects involving data analytics, financial mathematics, and emerging technologies, helping them apply their knowledge in creative and meaningful ways.

In addition to his teaching and mentoring responsibilities, Dr. Krueger has played an active role in university governance and faculty leadership for more than two decades. He was first elected Chair of the Faculty Senate in 2011 after serving as Chair of the Faculty Development Committee and is currently serving his fourth non-consecutive term as Senate Chair. Between Senate terms, he chaired the Undergraduate Policies Committee for six years, helping guide curricular and academic policy initiatives across the university. Through these leadership roles, he works collaboratively with faculty and administration to strengthen academic programs, develop institutional policies, and advance Concordia’s mission of preparing students for thoughtful lives of service, leadership, and learning.
