The journalism minor is perfect for those who want to continuously learn, discover, and share their writing with the world. The First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution guarantees the freedom of the press. An independent press is the “fourth” branch of government that ensures a fair and open democracy. Nothing short of the freedom of our country is at stake and our journalists are there. Student journalists work on Concordia’s very own student newspaper, The Sword, and report about all the news and events taking place on our fair campus. In our journalism courses, students learn how to discover new trends, interview stars, and uncover scandals. These skills of fearless research, concise writing, and meeting deadlines opens up career paths in publishing, public relations, producers, social media, and anywhere you see words. Our reporters are all over campus at theater shows, art gallery openings, musical concerts, scientific experiments, and sporting triumphs. If you want your finger on the pulse of our campus (and the country), join the journalists.
