Pre-Deaconess

Overview

The Pre-Deaconess Studies program prepares you to serve as a deaconess in The Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod. Beginning the program at CSP, the pre-deaconess student may transfer at the beginning of the junior year for continued preparation in the Concordia University-Chicago Deaconess program, or she may graduate from CSP with a major in theology and may continue preparation at Concordia Seminary, Saint Louis, Mo., or Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Ind., earning a Master of Arts degree and the Deaconess certification.

On Campus

A deaconess serves in a congregation, hospital, or other institution in local communities or foreign mission fields to bring mercy and human care to others. Pre-deaconess students at Concordia University, St. Paul continue their studies for deaconess certification at one of the seminaries.

Church Work Tuition Guarantee

Concordia University, St. Paul’s church work tuition guarantee ensures eligible students enrolled in church work programs will pay no more than $6,000 in tuition each academic year.
