Jan Puffer

Term Faculty in Theatre and Dance

 

Jan Puffer is a Twin Cities choreographer, actress, and teacher awarded Best of the Twin Cities: Tap Dance with Jan Puffer in the 2008 City Pages. Jan holds a B.F.A. in Dance from Florida State University, and is a graduate of the Academy of Dramatic Art.  Her choreographic work includes over 12 productions at the History Theatre where she is an Artistic Associate, Park Square Theatre, Old Log Theater, Paul Bunyan Playhouse, Theatre L’Homme Dieu, and Concordia University.  She has also choreographed numerous shows for Totem Pole Playhouse in Pennsylvania, Michigan’s Meadow Brook Theatre, Harrah’s Atlantic City, Caesars Palace Lake Tahoe, as well as the national tour of Little Shop of Horrors.

As an actress, she has appeared at La Mama ETC., Ubu Repertory Theater, The Writer’s Theatre, Meadow Brook Theater, The Attic Theater, History Theatre, Old Log Theater, and Playwrights’ Center, and can be seen in the film, Sugar and Spice. She has danced professionally with several modern dance companies in New York City, acted as Movement Specialist for many NYC public and private schools, and founded “Let’s Dance,” a creative movement and drama program for children in Brooklyn, NY.  A teacher of dance and movement for both children and adults for over thirty years, she has taught Movement for Actors, Movement for Classroom Teachers, Creative Movement, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Dance History, Choreography, Dance for Musical Theatre, and was a Guthrie Theater Teaching Artist for over 10 years.
